UVA Brother Waits 51 Years to be Initiated

Marty Goldrick joined the VA Omega Alpha colony at the University of Virginia in 1967, a year before graduating and joining the United States Marine Corps. Within a few months, he found himself in Vietnam leading an Infantry platoon in combat missions. He held that position for six months before he became a battalion level Civic Action Officer. In that role, he helped with implementing medical and dental programs in Vietnamese villages in an effort to help the civilian populace. He then became a Company Commander for new Marine recruits in Parris Island, South Carolina. He finished his service commitment through the Reserves.

Although the Pilam colony at UVA wasn’t officially recognized until 1969 and he was never formally initiated, continued to believe in and live by the values of our Fraternity. Fifty-one years later, on October 13, 2018, Marty Goldrick was officially initiated into Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity. We thank him for his service to his country and to his fraternity.
