Remembering George Beck: Share your story

George Beck was a dedicated and faithful leader who steered the helm of Pi Lambda Phi for a generation. We would love to hear your stories about this legendary brother.

George was Executive Director from 1966 -1992 and a legend in Pi Lambda Phi. He was a dedicated brother, steadfast leader, family man, and veteran of the US Navy.

Serving on a minesweeper in the Pacific during WWII, he received two battle stars to which he modestly quipped, “and that was enough.” George retired from the Navy as a Captain.

A native New Yorker, George headed south to the University of Virginia (UVA) where he was initiated in 1940. And he never forgot his Pilam roots. After running his family business for several years, he returned to his beloved fraternity to become Executive Director.
