Ohio Beta Tau: Annual Alumni Association Golf Outing

About this event

Undergraduate and Alumni brothers from Ohio and the surrounding area are invited to take part in an Ohio Beta Tau annual summer tradition, The OBT Alumni Golf Outing!

Get an update on what is happening with the Beta Tau chapter and catch up with some alumni Pilam brothers from across the region! For local alumni, find out how to join the OBT Alumni Association and hear what we have going on. Got a foursome set already? Save $5 per person if you register together. Need a partner or two? We'll get you matched up to complete a foursome!

This best-ball scramble's cost per golfer covers 18 holes and a cart! As always our '21 & '22 grads will get a serious discount on the price of golf, so take advantage!

There will be prizes for winners, closest to the pin, longest drive, and of course the loser balls! That's not all! There will be strings, grenades, and mulligans for sale, golf prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and of course, an amazing time that will be had by all! When registering as a Foursome, make sure to click on the "Foursome" option and enter all 4 of your team members' contact information. Registering as a foursome offers a 5$ discount per player! When selecting a tee time, please fill out all of your preferred times. These times will be taken into consideration as we try to accommodate guests traveling from greater distances and may not be the tee time you are officially assigned.

FAQs

What if I don't have a foursome?

No problem, as we get a little closer to the day of the event we will get you paired up with 3 other brothers to create your PGA-prepped squad!

What if I'm Not From the OH Beta Tau Chapter?

No problem. While the OBT Chapter hosts it, it's open to any Pilam alumnus. We have registrants already from OSU, Cincinnati, PITT, etc.!

What are "Grenades", "Strings", and "Mulligans"?

If you have never encountered one of these before, they can seem daunting. These tools are easy to use and can make your game more enjoyable (especially if this is your first time)! A "Grenade" is an option to toss/throw your ball from any location. A "String" (it comes in two lengths) allows you to count a putt as "in the hole" if it lands within the string's length of the hole. A "Mulligan" is the opportunity to re-do a shot.

What if I suck at golf?

Is your name Tiger? Phil? Do people often call you the Golden Bear? Then don't worry about it, we're all here to have a great time. The brotherhood and connection are the names of the game here. The more brothers that join in, the better time we will have. This is a best-ball scramble, which means that you don't have to worry about the occasional slice you put off into the woods or the water. Show up and you're gonna have fun!

What attire is appropriate for this event?

A Polo shirt and khaki pants or shorts would be appropriate, though collared shirts are not required by the course.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Plenty of parking is available on site at Springvale. Need directions? Click on the large map at the bottom of this page for Google map directions!

What should/shouldn't I bring to the event?

Outside alcohol is prohibited at the course. There is a bar on-site and a drinks cart that comes around while out on the course for those over 21. You may want some cash on you for the drink cart (alcoholic or soft drinks) and for a small lunch.

Ensure that you are dressed appropriately for the weather as the event will be rain or shine. You should bring golf clubs.

What if there are thunderstorms?

We will play if it is raining, but in the event that there is a storm that would render it unsafe to play, we will be forced to either reschedule or cancel. This would be a day of decision and would be emailed out to the group. If there is bad weather please keep an eye on your email.

What happened to the Steak Dinner?

Under normal circumstances we have a Steak Dinner after we're finished golfing, however, we will not be able to hold the dinner this year as a result of previous feedback preferencing an independent dinner offsite as well as a policy change regarding catering from our hosts.

How can I contact the organizers with any questions?

This year's event is organized by Derek Newbould. Derek can be reached by email at dnewboul@outlook.com or by phone (216) 314-1152
