“The fraternity opened Romano’s mind to see the world from a variety of different vantage points; young men that surrounded him during his undergraduate years, immersed in his daily life, and offered new perspectives coming from all walks of life: races, religious backgrounds, socioeconomic status, political beliefs, and academic studies. The fraternity experience changed him as an individual, pulling him out of his comfort zone (in a healthy way) and challenged his ability to lead when he assumed the role as Rex (the chapter president). Ultimately, the accumulation of all those experiences provided my son with a newfound confidence and to this day, continues to offer a world of connections that will forever change the way he experiences life.
Pilam is not right for ANY man. If it was, then there would be no need for other fraternities. Not everyone will be the right fit, however, if your son believes that all men are created free and equal, and wants to be challenged to become the best version of himself, then yes, Pilam is the right fit for him.
To the parents on the fence about their son joining, it is a leap of faith and something that I cannot fully comprehend from the outside, but clearly it has served Romano and his brothers well. I can only wish that same opportunity, or better, for other young men in the future. So whether your son chooses Pilam or another fraternity, I am confident it will change his life for the better and develop him in ways that we as parents cannot provide on our own.”
What are the benefits of joining a fraternity?
Joining a fraternity is a life changing decision. Pi Lambda Phi is here to develop young men into the future leaders of tomorrow through education, brotherhood, civic engagement and philanthropic service. For a complete list of the benefits your son will receive from becoming a Pilam, click here.
Will my son be hazed?
Pi Lambda Phi has a zero tolerance policy on hazing of any sorts. Our members’ health and welfare is considered first and foremost. If at any time we are alerted to members being put in unsafe situations, we immediately act to correct and prevent any further unsafe behavior. We recommend all parents review the risk management policy from the Fraternal Information and Programming Group, which we subscribe to by clicking here. If you hear of your son participating in activities that are counter to the aforementioned guidelines, please let our headquarters staff know immediately by calling (203-740-1044) or through email email@example.com.
How much does it cost?
Like most clubs and organizations, there is a cost associated with being a member of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity. Because we understand college students have limited funds available, Pilam has worked hard to keep our prices as affordable as possible. For a complete list of the costs, please click here.
How will joining affect his grades?
Academics and earning a diploma is the reason why we attend college. Pi Lambda Phi believes it is our role to enhance and support our members’ collegiate experience. Your son’s success in the classroom is one of our number one goals. We provide numerous resources for our members including presentations from professional staff members and online resources.
Does he have to live in a chapter house?
The answer to this question truly depends on the chapter. Some Pilam chapters do have a chapter facility, while others do not. Please have your son contact the head of housing for his local chapter to have all questions answered.
