When is the Convention?

The 117th Annual Leadership Convention will be hosted from Thursday, August 2, 2012 through Sunday, August 5, 2012.

When and where should I arrive?
Please plan to arrive by 1:00pm at the hotel on Thursday August 2, 2012.  All Delegates will receive emails about the check in process prior to arrival.

Are my travel expenses covered?
Travel expense reimbursement for each Chapter/Colony Primary Delegate based is on the distance from the chapter to the site of the Convention.  Chapters/Colonies located less than 450 miles from the site of the Convention are expected to travel by car while Chapters/Colonies located more than 450 miles will be given a reimbursement based on the airfare from the airport closest to their chapter.  To see if your chapter qualifies for the reimbursement and for exact reimbursement amounts, please email a member of the IHQ Staff.  For those delegates who are eligible to fly to Convention, it is strongly recommended to reserve your flights as soon as possible in order to stay within your budgeted reimbursement travel reimbursement.

How do I book a flight?
Primary Delegates needing to book flights to Richmond should schedule your reservations as to arrive in Richmond, VA on Thursday, August 2, 2012 before 1:00pm and depart Sunday, August 5, 2012 after 3:00pm. To book a flight, on-line sites such as Orbitz.com and kayak.com tend to give the best rates.  Please use the airport code “RIC” for the Byrd International Airport when reserving your ticket.

How much does it cost to attend?
Primary delegate costs are covered.  The cost for Additional Delegates is $400.00 per person.  This cost covers housing, meals and presentation materials.

Where will I stay?
Hotel rooms will be provided to all chapter delegates. 

What do I have to bring?
A suit and tie.  (For Awards Banquet)
Business Casual Clothing (Dress shirt, slacks, and dress shoes)
Casual Clothing
Brother’s Badge
Toiletries
Funds for extracurricular activities and expenses

Are my meals covered?
Yes, meals are covered as part of the Convention Delegate Fee.  The only meal not provided during Convention is dinner on Friday evening.

What if additional members of my chapter would like to come?
The cost for an additional delegate is $400. Travel expenses to and from convention are not covered. Additional delegates are required to register online. 

What activities will be scheduled?
We will have a social activity for Friday night.
The Awards Banquet.
Various speakers, programming and presentations. 
All registrants will receive emails about activities prior to arrival.

What is required of me?
All delegates are to attend all programs and activities.

What will we be learning?
Programming will be offered in many different areas of general chapter operations such as recruitment, finances and leadership.  Pi Lambda Phi is excited to welcome back Phired Up Productions to support with our recruitment training. Many of the presentation topics chosen directly relate to what it means to be a brother of Pi Lambda Phi and how we continue to have healthy chapters on our campuses. All registrants will receive agendas prior to arrival.

When will Convention be over?
 Convention will end at noon on Sunday, August 5, 2012. Attendees should not plan to depart from the airport prior to 3:00pm.
