How the Foundation Makes a Difference!

“Pi Lambda Phi gave me the best collegiate training. As a management major entering the workforce out of college, I had skills that were years or even a decade more advanced than others. My leadership experience in Pi Lambda Phi showed me what worked, and what did not work when leading and managing people I care about.”Gary Sanders, Executive Director

While the essence of Fraternity is your undergraduate years, it is alumni on all different levels that perpetuate our traditions and keep the flame of Pi Lambda Phi forever burning. It is the dollars raised by the Pi Lambda Phi Educational Foundation that provides the investment for the Fraternity’s training and development of our undergraduate and alumni programming  Programs such as conclaves, conventions, on site leadership development visits, teleconference educational sessions, alumni get togethers, web based marketing opportunities for brothers and more.

Our programs get results

The Fraternity set out to increase recruitment. This Fall, the recruitment of new members increased 36%. The increase was due to training that allowed our undergraduates to practice effective skills that work. Recruitment increased because we taught our leaders how to lead and how to use their energy and charisma to be successful.

Many of our chapters were facing problems with collections. Instead of just increasing KOE training, the Fraternity staff studied the officers and their actions. What we found was the undergraduates had difficulty confronting and holding one another accountable. By increasing training on accountability and confrontation, we had a 21% increase in our chapter’s collection rates.

Through our newly enhanced www,pilambdaphi.org webpage, we have allowed many alumni brothers to find old friends with whom they had lost touch Alumni get togethers in Florida, Washington Dc and other locales (with more planned in 2009), have allowed Brothers from different Chapter origins to make new friendships and, in some cases, new customers.

Did you know our conventions and conclaves are no longer mandatory?

Our attendance has increased 30% since making our programs a choice. Training for our undergraduates is completely voluntary. By doing so, our undergraduates tell us they believe what they are learning is relevant just by attending.

Our chapters request visits by the staff. The chapter officers want the guidance and leadership of a professional team. Our professional staff takes the time to assess the needs of each chapter or colony before visiting. This ensures the best use of the officer’s time and efforts.

Your donations are well managed

The Fraternity assesses every program on an annual basis. Our size means we have to be efficient and effective. Anything that is not working is “tweaked” or discarded. The Foundation’s role is to fund those programs that have shown success. Programs such as recruitment training, leadership and many others that are of value to our brotherhood.

We know our donors work hard for the money they contribute. Any funding decision is based on what will give the greatest benefit to our members. That is true for alumni and not just undergraduates. “Not just Four Years, but a Lifetime” rings true.

What do I get out of it?

We have listened to thousands of alumni. The two most common things most care about:

1.      Making sure the undergraduates are successful as possible.

2.      Maintaining their connections with their brothers.

We consider these items when making any funding, strategic, or daily decision.

Your donation allows us to devote more time and energy towards developing our alumni. Your donation buys “time.” It allows us to update  The alumni roll, distribute news of interest to you about your Chapter or possibly your Pledge Brother. Your gift  allows us to reach out to other Brothers to ask them for support so tomorrow we can be even better.

Your annual gift means that Pi Lambda Phi lives not only in our hearts, but on college campuses as well as operating rooms, business board rooms, NBA home courts, and everywhere an alumni brother makes a vital contribution to our communities.
