|George A. Beck enters the Chapter Eternal|
George A. Beck Joins Chapter Eternal
Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity mourns the loss of our Executive Director
Emeritus George A. Beck (VA Omega Alpha - University of Virginia).
No words can explain the
loss we all feel for a man who did an immeasurable amount of good for
this fraternity and the entire fraternal movement over his 26 years as
the leader of the Headquarters staff, and over his entire life as a
dedicated and faithful Pilam. Equally immeasurable is the honor we feel
for having had the opportunity to spend time with George and learn from
this legend. With his passing, a void exists that cannot be filled.
Through his long and well lived life, a COUNTLESS number of Pilams have
been so positively impacted through his involvement, leadership,
mentorship, and role modeling. His influence will be forever felt. We
will pay tribute to his legacy in the days, weeks, months, and years to
come. The International Executive Council voted George onto our Memorial Board. A bronze plate will be engraved with his name and it will be added to our the board for a Convention 2015 unveiling. Additionally, an official mourning period has been issued and will be in effect from March 20 through April 25 (George's birthday).
As part of the mourning process, if a brother wears his badge during such time, he is asked to black out the letters on the badge. This can be accomplished by using a small piece of electrical tape. More information on how all we will honor him will be made
available, as it is determined. Rest in Peace Brother Beck. You will
never be forgotten. Brother Mine Forever.
